LETTER from the DIRECTOR

Human experience and innovation

Industrial Design provides an important and strategic link between the worlds of design, engineering, manufacture, human experience and innovation equipping students with skills in collaboration, leadership and creativity. This year marks 30 years of Industrial Design education at WSU, and the discipline continues to grow, evolve and to the complex demands of a fast-changing world. Industrial designers shape the interface that many of us have with the world around us, from the domestic environment, the urban realm, our technological connectivity and our infrastructure. Western Sydney, as a powerhouse of manufacturing and making both historically and in the future is a landscape enmeshed with design questions and innovation at every turn.

Widevision celebrates the diversity of Industrial Design through the exposition of its final year projects, which explore a wide range of topics from sustainability, disability, health, accessibility, ergonomics, circularity, and smart manufacturing. The projects demonstrate the endless world of design and its centrality to human experience, the region of Western Sydney as well as the planet, its climate and resources. We are delighted to celebrate thirty years of industrial design at Western Sydney and invite you to immerse yourself in this world of possibility and promise.
