Ergo-Rest Chair

PROJECT

The Ergo-Rest Chair is a dining/home office chair that aims to provide older people struggling with chronic back pain an easier and more manageable experience when transferring in and out of a chair through the innovative design of the arm rests, which seamlessly sit flush with the base of the chair. Through the aid of a gas spring, reducing the effort required, the arm rests can be raised up to 210mm and can be locked into 7 different positions.

This, coupled with other design features such as a wide base and a springy back rest aids the user during transfer, improving independence and quality of life. The ergonomic design culminates into a sleek and sturdy design built to last through design for disassembly. Similarly, the entire product’s lifespan has been considered to ensure product longevity and minimise material wastage.
